DUE TO THEFT THIS BOX IS NOW HOME WITH ME SAFE & SOUND. I WILL PROBABLY MAKE A NEW LOG BOOK AND REPLANT IT SOMEWHERE ELSE OVER THE SUMMER.

WHEN YOU FIND A BOX----PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO RE-HIDE IT CAREFULLY---IT MEANS A LOT TO THE PLACER!

This Chumash Boat means a lot to me--please re-hide it carefully after you stamp in! There is a some history as to why I chose to carve it--it's orginally from the Ancient Cultures Ring. You'll need a pencil to do some math before finding this box.
From Route 110 in Westford take Powers Road towards the Nashoba Ski area. Cross Rte 225 (go straight) and just before "One Stop Fun" is Trailside Road on your Left. Take that to the end of the Cul-de-sac and you'll find a narrow gravel/dirt road that will lead you to a parking lot. Park and lock your car there. You will want to allow at least 30-40 minutes to find this boat. The paths can be quite muddy in spots. You can wade, swim & fish in Kennedy Pond. Horses abound as well as dogs so be on the look out--for them and their droppings!!! You won't be able to do this box once the snow arrives as once you get on the H trail and find the next path the clues won't work as they will be covered with snow!!!
Take the Trail at the Gate until you come to an intersection with 2 large granite boulders. You can ignore all wooden sign-posts for now. At the 2 boulders--note the one with the writing--write down the name of the person and the date it was dedicated. Note all the numbers as you'll need them later.
From this intersection you can choose to go right or left. Just remember to ALWAYS stay on the path closeset to the pond. We chose to go left but it really does not matter.
L'sister loves to swim in the pond--it always seems pretty clean & clear. It is used quite a bit in the summer.
About half way around the pond you want to be sure to find the wooden post marker with the letter "H" on it. It marks an intersection that has some large rocks that sort of make up a large rock wall. Just a note--near here at the pond is a nice small beach--Sasha's favorite spot for a swim! Ok, now before you head down the "H" trail do the following math----Note the number of the Alphabet for the middle inital of the person the area was named after. Add that number to the date of the dedication. Now, using the number for the month (i.e., if Jan is 1 then Feb. is 2, etc.) add that to the others. Now this might be the tricky one--the Year of the dedication--take the first two numbers and add them as ONE NUMBER to the rest of the numbers--You have now added all FOUR sets numbers together. Lastly, double this number and note it for later.
--(If you chose to go Right back where the boulders were--you will pass several trails off to your right as you get 1/2 way around the pond. Do not take any of them, but keep looking to your Right and make sure you find the "H" trail. This is the trail you want to take.
I belive this is an old RR bed as it is fairly wide and very flat. It is used by Horseback riders a lot so beware of the droppings!
Ok, now walk along the H trail. Soon you will pass a trail/path on the right and fairly soon after that you'll cross Nashoba Brook--walking over a bridge that has a wooden railing on each side. Not long from here you will see another path off to your Right. Right after you take this path you will want to stop where you will have to walk along a few rocks as you'll need to count your steps--Count the number of steps for the amount you doubled. This should bring you to a fire circle on your Left.
To the right of the Fire Circle lays a fallen tree that is broken in two. Walking between the Fire Circle and the fallen tree walk in a right arch the number of steps of the DATE of the dedication. This should bring you to a fallen tree that fell between 2 skinny Maple Trees. Where it fell the trees form a large V. The Chumash have hidden their boat at the bottom of the V. You can stamp in here. Please be sure to re-hide it carefully--this is a very open area just off the path (it may well be on another path!!!).

Many thanks and do log on to Letterboxing.org & Atlas Quest and let me know how you did.
