This letterbox was originally placed by Viejo, but he is unable to maintain so I have taken it over.
The Highline Trail 31 runs for 50 miles along the base of the Mogollon Rim from the 260 Trailhead to the Pine Trailhead off highway 87. There are a number of places to enter/exit from the trail so hikers are not committed to the full 50 miles in order to enjoy the trail.
It is available year round except during the occasional winter snow or occasional closures due to forest fire hazards.
There is a prominent sign just at the base of the Rim on route 260 announcing the 260 trailhead. The short road leads to a parking lot. There are toilets.
Walk the short distance to the corral. Read the sign describing the trail and then turn so the sign is to your back. You will see the trail going upslope. About 160 steps along the trail, you will come to a large flat rock surface. Contine on about 165 steps to a second similar flat rock table. Leave the trail here and follow the natural water course off the top of the outcropping down to its base. Go to the right along the base of the stone outcroping until you locate the concealment of a geocache ammo can. The letterbox resides inside.
Please practice "leave no trace".
