UNFORTUNATELY, THIS LETTERBOX HAS GONE MISSING AGAIN.

Make Way!

The clues to the Make Way! Letterbox lead you on a circuitous route through one of my favorite parts of Boston, so do not despair if you feel like you are taking the long way to the letterbox!

In one corner of this 24-acre plot you’ll find Mack, Pack and the rest of the gang of eight whom Michael helped across the street. From there, cross the lagoon (there’s only one way over). You’ll find yourself facing the backside of the “father of his country.”

Next, go to the forty-foot high monument that commemorates the achievement of “insensibility to pain.” Here’s a hint in case you can’t spot this bizarre monument through the foliage: you want to head in the direction of the toddler sitting on a rock in the middle of a round fountain. Do not confuse the toddler with his older brother who holds a bird in the palm of his hand.

Continue on and seek the benevolent statue poised to take flight. Having admired this beauty, turn around and with your back toward the horn of plenty and the place “where everybody knows your name and you’re always glad you came” across the street on your left-hand side, go back the way you came to the nearby bench shaded by two trees that are rooted on either side of the path. Six paces (2 steps = 1 pace) from that bench you’ll find a much more diminutive tree whose trunk hides the Make Way! Letterbox.

Please remember to be discreet as this is a popular place and re-hide the letterbox carefully so that others may enjoy its contents.
