The hardwood forests of Vermont are known far and wide for their spectacular display of autumn color.

You are invited to add a small leaf stamp of your own making to the collection. The box is not very large, so keep ‘em small and don’t forget to put your trailname on the back of your stamp so everyone can tell who added which leaves. Bring autumn colored inks for best effect.

To the trailhead: From Bennington head north on 67A to the town of North Bennington. At the diminutive town green turn left on West Street. One block up is the entrance to the historic Park-McCullough House. Go left here on Park Avenue. Watch the telephone poles. The trailhead is on the right side of the road between the last pole on the left and the first pole on the right. It can be somewhat overgrown and hard to spot.

To the Letterbox: Not only are these woods a wonderful place to peep at leaves but they are also perfect gnome habitat. Keep your eyes peeled! Up the hill and through the walls. Stop just before the third wall, turn to 250º magnetic and take ten steps to a perfect gnome abode. Then take another twenty-two steps at 200º to their lookout. The box is a step to the right of the lookout under stone, bark and leaves.
