To the Letterbox

Mommy and Daddy strapped me into my car seat again. They said we’re going letterboxing. I don’t want to go. I want to play with my Legos. Well if the world won’t revolve around me, I’ll bug my sister

Well, here we are at the park. I don’t want to go letterboxing. Hey! Look a water fountain! Waahhhhh, I’m too short to reach! lift me up! Oh wait, I can splash some. Oooh a playscape, lets see, that square ladder looks like fun, man I can barely reach, but here I go. Made it, now down the big slide, zoom! Back up the slide, across the bridge and down the corkscrew. Uh oh, Mom and Dad are catching up, dodge and weave, on the merry-go-round. Daddy sits me down in the middle and makes me hug the middle support post. OK, the big kids are pushing it faster and faster, time to stand up and walk to the edge, man I’m getting dizzy, what a thrill, whoa, nice catch Daddy.

Hah, slipped away, off to the swings. Man, the swingset keeps moving, I’ll just weave until I get there. The first one is in use, on to the next one, full, on to the next one, full, on to the next one. Full, waahhh. Hey, Daddy grabbed me again and dragged me over to some dumb sign, he calls it a map, like I should care. Waa, oh look a stick, cool. I’m going to write “I don’t want to letterboxing” in the dirt.

Hey, I’m not done writing, let go of my wrist (good dodge of the flailing stick sister). Let me guess, the going back to the car seat threat is coming next. There it is, and the counting. Guess I should play along nicely for a few steps and walk along the paved path past the baseball field. I see rocks bytthe gate. I love big rocks! Gotta climb, gotta climb. I’m on top of the world! Listen to me!

Wait, over there, water! I’m gonna play Pooh sticks with sister.I wonder how far can I lean? Daddy, let go of my shirt!

Man, this trail is boring no playground, no rocks, no sticks, nothin’. Little signs, boy I wish I could read. Hmm, that one looks like truck. I want a truck. Where’s my truck? What’s Daddy saying about Turck? No truck? That’s it, I’m outa here. Watch me duck down this grassy path. Hey! There’s a trail here. Let’s see them catch me now.

Nice woods to duck into. Look Daddy is chasing, ha, ha. Why is he counting? He’s up to four and snagged! Hey look at that a, fallen tree that got caught by grapevines. Neat, it’s caught by a V tree at the other end and sticks! There are sticks on the ground! What’s that under them? A letterbox! I found a letterbox! I love letterboxing!

Well stamping in was fun. I wonder if there is another letterbox to find? What, we’re going to the car. Waaaah, I want to go letterboxing.

(be sure to bring a pen and stamp pad, as the letterbox has neither)

Enjoy.
