Clues

Terrain: jagged rock no trail
Distance of walk: 1/4
Elevation: 50’
Wheel chair friendly: no
Pen colors: black

Introduction:

The Cascade Range has evidence of violent past some can be seen the Gifford Pinchot National Forest.

Getting you close:
Take Washington Hi-way 14 to Cook, Wa (about 10 miles East of Carson). Go North to Willard, then Northwest on forest road 66, continue to the Big Lava Bed. On a map you will notice 2 westward points on the road, about 7 mi into the lava bed. After the 1st look for a large turn out on the left side, if the road is now gravel you have gone too far.

The Box:
This will be a photo clue set some day. So, if you prefer ask for the pic’s.
Look away from the road and up for an angled gray log pointing out and to your right, hike to its base. Turn left and look thru the trees for a long gray angled log pointing away from you and to the right, hike to its tip. Turn right and look for weathered log pointing up hill, stand over it looking up hill for a small gray branch with 2 fingers pointing up, look behind it in a cubby hole under a flat rock for the box.

Please re-hide well, scatter some natural ground debris over the hiding spot.

Hope you enjoyed the hunt. Since we don’t live in the area we can’t check on this box very often. We appreciate an update on the boxes condition. Thank you.
