My father's family grew up in Coal Grove, OH. His father moved to Charleston in 1942 with his wife and two sons to find work at DuPont, so my side of the family is a little displaced :) When our reunions started we met at Lake Vesuvius Park, not far away, but then someone decided we should be meeting at "the old home place." I thought this was the perfect opportunity to place a letterbox and share our family crest.
Go to Coal Grove, OH. If travelling west 52, turn right at the end of the exit. If travelling east 52, turn left. Go down into Coal Grove, pass through the stop light and at the four-way stop intersection, turn left. There will be a school on your left and a police building on your right. Go just past the police building and turn right into a parking lot. There is a park on up the hill and the H. Jae Roush Community Building to the right. Park in the lot and walk past the community building, following the paved road. This road will meet with another road that passes back by the community building. At the left of the intersection is a small creek and a drain running under the road. Left of the drain is some large flat slabs of concrete and asphalt, with leaves stuffed in the cracks. This is where you should find the Hoskins Family Reunion box. Enjoy, and let me know you found it! Bring your own pen and ink pad.
