The best laid plans of mice, men and letterboxers.
A few weeks ago while hiking at Ragged Mountain Preserve, Gizz and I found two great drawings of a round yellow cheese with a hasp on the slice to come out. They so intriqued me that I had him carve a cheese for a box which was to be a mystery, but when we went to plant it today, the second cheese was “fading” already, being drawn in chalk instead of painted as I’d thought. If you get there soon enough you might see it behind the two sister tree behind the twin boulders at the overlook.
Follow West Lane west off route 71-A (Chamberlain Highway) for 0.6 miles. Parking for the preserve is on the right.
Follow the blue with red dot trail for 0.7 miles to the overlook with the twin boulders. After checking out the cheese continue on the trail and almost immediately come to a four way intersection. From here count 20 steps, look right for a lone large rock (or small boulder) sitting on top of a ledge. Look in the top far side under rocks.
Be careful not to be seen from the twins.
