The NEW and IMPROVED "Jack's Cardinal"

This letterbox is in honor of my husband whose favorite bird is the cardinal . . . and Ho-Ho-Kus has many! I had planted one last summer, but that has gone missing. This is a new stamp (hand-carved this time) and in a different location within the same park. Enjoy!

At the intersection of Hollywood Avenue and East Saddle River Road in Ho-Ho-Kus (County Route 502) is a small park that runs along the Saddle River. Park where you see eight large boulders at the back of the parking area. To the left of the parking lot are three picnic benches. Walk to the one that is farthest from the parking lot and closest to the road running above. Just beyond this picnic bench is a very old fallen trunk that has broken in half and broken open. Stand at the closest end of the trunk and on its right side. Take one pace along the fallen trunk and you'll be beside a sapling up against the trunk's right side. Take one more step, bend down to look under the rotted trunk, and beneath a pile of sticks in a hole under the trunk, you'll find Jack's Cardinal.

Please seal it back up carefully to keep the contents dry. Thanks!

Happy letterboxing!
