Just east of Huntersville on Route 39 is a natural rock formation known as the "Devil's Backbone" or more recently I saw it referred to as "The Huntersville Arch." There is a road that runs by the front of the arch, but it goes onto private property. Park at the bridge, off Rt. 39 and walk to the arch.
From the end of the guard rail, walk 65 paces (1 pace = 2 steps). You should see a trail leading up to the arch. Hunt through the rocks to the left of the trail for the letterbox. Watch for critters!
Lots of people fish at this spot, and many universities bring their geology students here to check out the arch, so be very careful. Bring your own ink pad and pen.
