!!!!! Boxes out of commission. Series will be replaced in a different location in the summer of 2010!!!!

On your marks......get set......go!

I originally wanted to place these boxes as close as I could to Miller Park, but after scoping the area out,I decided it would be too risky. I spent a lot of time and effort making the stamps and I want to lessen the possibility of them going missing or getting vandalized, so instead, these guys are currently residing in a park on 92nd street.

(This particular portion of the park prohibits dogs, but Sophie thinks if you keep a low profile and go looking for these boxes during the off hours, dogs might be able to sneak in. What park rangers don't know won't hurt them, right?)

Park your car at the parking lot closest to the waterfall. Spot the big rock in the grass, and take the trail at 320.

The Brat:

When you see the nature trail sign, go right. Go past the waterfall and cross the bridge. When you come to the "Y", go right. Keep on this trail for a while, until it emerges from the woods and you see a little foot path leading to the right, (you'll see the road and an open area). At the foot path stop and turn around. Go back on the trail 40 steps. Look for the the chest-high broken tree of three trunks. The brat is hidden in the back of it. (Be sure to re-hide it very well!)

The Polish:

Go back on the trail and continue north. Keep going as you walk the edge of the woods and cross over the big road bridge. Turn left and keep on the trail. Soon you'll see a second nature trail sign. When you come to a "Y" go left. Go 5 steps down this trail and spot the 5-trunk tree on the right. Hidden in the tree is the Polish.

The Italian:

Continue on the path you were on. Cross over the tiny bridge. You will soon come to an open field. Continue on the trail on the left. Keep straight at the fork. Cross another tiny bridge. Pass the fence on the left. Come to another "Y" and go left. Enter the woods. The trails merge, but keep left. Cross another tiny bridge. Go left at the "Y". Right before the fence posts, take a small footpath on the left. Right before the lake, you will find yourself between two willows. Go to the willow on the left. Go to the opposite side of that willow and look at the end of the huge broken log, where it rests next to the healthy tree. The Italian will be at chest level under some wood scraps.

The Frankfurter:

Go back to the trail you were on before and go right at the hairpin turn. At the next fork, go left past the bench that you see on the right. Go past the building. Cross the tiny bridge. Keep to the left. You will soon come to a wetlands sign and a raised wooden walkway. Keep an eye out for the signs of honor and gratitude. When you see a sign declaring agift to Tyler and Dawson Voss, step off the walkway and head into the woods to the lanrge willow. Look inside the base of the large willow log to the right for the Frankfurter.

The Chorizo:

Continue on the trail you were on. Cross over the big bridge. Pass the white building. When you come to a "Y" go right. Pass another nature trail sign (this one is facing the other direction). The woodchip path with become gravel. Go past the golf area on the right. Continue on the nature trail as is goes left, back into the woods.

(for a detour, to see a really cool willow tree, take second small trail on the left)

When you come to the vertical wood slats, stop and turn around. Walk back 16 steps. Look for a foot path on the right. Walk 25 steps down the path. On the left, 5 paces off the path, you will find the Chorizo under some bark at the base of a tree.

Keep going on the main trail and it will lead you back to the parking lot.

Thank you to Die Deutsche Dame for helping me place the boxes!

Please remember to update us on the status and condition of these boxes on the the letterboxing.org website!

Sincerely,

Sophie & Me
