My Girls

Bolton's Rose Farm
266 Bolton Center Rd.
Bolton, Connecticut

Park near the mapboard. Hopefully, there will be maps in the box with alot of interesting information. Just in case, I will add some info at the end of these clues. Take a few minutes to explore the old historic homestead and barn through the windows. It must have been quite the place back in the day!

Maya found her way into our hearts after the stray we had been caring for presented us with 4 of the most adorable kittens on St. Patricks Day 3 years ago. Maya was the firstborn and the largest kitten in the litter. She is spoiled rotten and makes it well know that she thinks the world should revolve around her. She is strikingly beautiful with her thick, shiny black fur, white markings and big green eyes. She loves to be combed and primped, and will lay still for hours while you fuss over her. "Machu-Picchu" is my shadow - wherever I am, Maya is usually close by. Her favorite part of the day is when I settle in for the night to read or watch TV on the couch and she curls up on my lap. When it's time for some shut-eye, you already know she follows me in and takes her place at the foot of the bed. My Girl, Maya.

Head right going behind the barn on the wood chip trail. Make a quick right detour which will lead you to a grass path with stone walls on either side. Enter the Rose Trail. At the vernal pool, turn left with the trail passing the grand old ones. When you meet the pasture, go right to the end (which is the back of the pasture). Turn right and then left as you enter the forest. Almost immediately you will come to a stone slab (not the one at the entrance to the forest) with a large left to right crack in it. With your toes on the crack, turn right and bushwack about 8 steps to another stone slab between two thin trees. Look under its ledge behind 3 stones for My Girl, "Maya". PLEASE keep her safe and rehide the box well!

NOTE: If you continue on this trail, it is a beautiful hike through several old stone walls ending on the Hop River State Park Linear Trail.

Zoey was the runt of the litter. She was so tiny, I didn't think she would survive, but as days passed I saw she was alot stronger than I gave her credit for. Before her bright yellow eyes were even opened, she would snuggle up to her brothers and sister and groom them one by one. She was like a little Mama. " Zaza" is sweet, and loving and rarely gets into mischief. She is just adorable with softest gray fur and white markings, and when her sister Maya is not hogging my lap, "My Zazarelli" loves to spend some quality time with me. She is very intuitive and sensitive, and seems to always know when someone in the house needs a little extra loving which she is eager to provide. My Girl, Zoey.

Backtrack to the trail marker at the back of the pasture, and continue walking along the forest edge. When you get to the corner, turn right onto a faint path which will be left of the two double blazed trees. Step through the stone wall and stop. Take three steps left along the wall and lift ONLY ONE stone to reveal My Girl, "Zoey" PLEASE keep her safe and rehide the box well!

Backtrack to the pasture, and continue following the forest edge towards the barn and your car. OR... you could pretend you're in "A Sound Of Music" and run through the pasture singing "Climb Every Mountain"! Either way, I hope you had a good time.
