Roaring River is a beautiful area to fish, hike, and camp. Watch out for the copious Junebugs though!

Go to the Fish Hatchery at Roaring River State Park. Find the trailhead for the Deer Leap Trail that starts at the NE end of the Hatchery Pond. Those are some lunkers in there, huh? Hike up this trail until you see the sign for the Fire Tower trail. Stand on the large rectangular rock at the top of the "stairs" and face that sign. Go 95 degrees for 7 steps and look in the crack at chest level behind some rocks wedged in there in the large rock cliff face. Be sure to wedge some more rocks in after you replace the box or it will be visible to one and all. Thanks and Have Fun! (Please note, this trail is short, but fairly strenuous.) For more fun, continue to the right after you find the box to the overlook deck for a great view of the grotto pond.
