Butterfly Letterbox

This is the second letterbox we hid in Washington, Missouri today. The kids are excited and hope someone finds it!!

As you may or may not know, Washington also has a beautiful riverfront area, and has history as a major railroad stop. As you search for this letterbox, take in some of the history and beauty of the riverfront area!

Clues:

1. Head to the area where the river flows. Lewis and Clark once traveled this river and stopped near this point!

2. To the west of the park is a beautifully restored train depot where today’s Amtrak travelers can wait for the train. Feel free to go inside to look at the old pictures and imagine what it was like waiting for the train so many years ago!

3. Just to the west of the depot is a small railroad park with a big red caboose! Head to the caboose to find what you are looking for.

4. Please be discreet, as across the street from the caboose is an outdoor patio for a restaurant where patrons may be watching you!

5. Go to the side of the caboose by the river.

6. As you stand on the sidewalk and look at the steps going onto the caboose nearest the depot, look for the white handrail that curves somewhat like a half of a “U”.

7. Approach the caboose and look under the caboose below the handrail. What you are looking for is behind the brick in the corner.

8. Please be discreet and rehide well!!

Driving directions for the out-of-towners:

Heading east or west on Hwy 100, turn north on Jefferson St (there is a light… this intersection is east of the Hwy 100/High St. intersection and west of the Hwy 100/Hwy 47 intersection). Stay on Jefferson St. until you reach the river (Front St.). Turn left (west) on Front Street. The best place to park for the letterbox is near the train depot.
