GUMMY FISH

I really like this place and you will too . You can hike , bike, canoe , walk your dog or just sit and look . There is more than one place to park and enjoy this preserve .

To find my Gummy Fish you must find Falls River Drive off Main Street in Ivoryton. In Essex. CT.

If you just want to sit and look, then , park in the first small parking lot on the right at the waters edge , but if you want to hike , keep going to the end of Falls River Drive and park there .

A wide path starts off and soon turns right onto a narrow sort of weedy path . It soon gets wider and you come to an intersection. Here there is a yellow trail going left and a red trail going right . Take the Red Trail . Soon you will be able to see the water through the trees. At another intersection , the red trail goes straight with water on the right, but you should turn left onto the blue trail and look left up into the woods and a really really big rock. It has a sign on it . Go up and read it , it is from the Essex Land Trust and has names of people in memory and in honor of them. Standing at the bronze sign , due south you will see a Rock Splitting Tree . That is where you will find Gummy Fish . Have fun but cover it back up good .
Now , you can continue to hike the red trail , or blue trail, but I turned around and took the Red Trail back to the parking lot . This is not a long trail , but is nice .
I hope you like Gummy’s as much as I do
