Ponemah Cemetery
Colchester, CT
Park your car at the pull-off next to the stone wall. As you walk into the cemetery from the northwest end, you will see a large pine to your left with several stones underneath it, including a World War Corporal right next to it. There’s also a family and a young man, among others. Stand here, breathe in the air about you, observe the trinkets affixed to the tree and artifacts lying on the ground. See the wind chimes in the tree? Are they ringing in the breeze? From this pine, head west to another pine. At the base of the stone wall, you will find another shrine – one for the living.
