This treasure hunt will take you to one of the best trout fishing streams in Northern Wisconsin on the White River. While you are there be sure to enjoy the beautiful surroundings and the peace and quiet. Also take in the sounds of a fresh running stream meandering through a wood’s filled with wildlife. Don’t be surprised if you spot a few wild Turkeys on this search. There is “artesian” water flowing from the ground so take a cup along and have a drink of cold water coming out of the pipe near the picnic table area. Be prepared to put up with a few bugs or maybe a wet foot or two if you wander to close to the stream.

Directions: Take hwy-H South out of Iron River for approx 11 and ½ miles to Delta Drummond Road and turn right or South for approx 1 mile. Look for a sign that reads White River Fishery Area on your right and follow this road to the parking lot.

Clues: (Caution: This letter box is not easy to find. If you don't follow directions to the T you will be wasting your time.)While you are standing in the parking lot look for a staircase in the rock wall. Go up them to the first little pine tree. Now look to your right and go down the stairs to the walking path. Arriving at the walking path look to your left and you will see a picnic bench. Go to the picnic bench and when you see the pipe with water coming out it turn completely around and look up the hill.

Use this course to find two big pines towards the top of the hill. The pines will be approx 12 feet apart.

Stand between these pines and look for two more big pines in approx a North to North East direction. Pines will be about 2 feet apart. There may be a little maple tree blocking your view of these pines.

Go stand between these pines and look slightly to your left and you will see a grassy area on the edge of a hill. Go to the grassy area. Looking down the hill and you will spot a log lying on the ground. Go to this log and turn completely around. Now walk about 5 to 8 steps to find your letter box. It is concealed in a birch bark wrapping with leaves around it.

Have fun and don’t catch all the fish in the stream while you are there.
