The Inn at Morro Bay is on Main St. across from the Morro Bay public golf course. Park at the Inn's parking lot and start your walk at the Inn's quaint white pickett fence sign.
From there, walk down the path away from the condos into the bird sanctuary. Along the way you will come to the nesting place of the great Blue Heron and other feathered friends. After the third telephone pole from the Inn sign find, on your right, a fallen tree that is almost sawed into three pieces. Look for the 5 pointed star in its end to be sure of your find.
Face this tree and look to its left to find two tall eucalyptus trees with a fallen tree resting between them. Walk around these trees to the side by the fence and look under this fallen tree trunk to find the box.
Make a wish on the treasure inside but be sure to leave it there for the next treasure hunters.
This is a great walk for bird watching and a special place for six year old Nico and his Papa to hunt for golf balls. They usually find several stray balls left behind by golfers with poor aim. If you're lucky, you may find one too.
For a nice view, after finding the box, continue walking until the trail meets the water and even beyond.
