Hadwen Park has it all-winding trails and steep hills, as well as a long quick-flowing river that runs from Leesville to Curtis Pond. This park is only two minutes from Webster Square, lying across Curtis Pond from Hope Cemetery.
Large enough to provide a total escape from urban sights and sounds, the park is small enough for hikers to roam at random along a series of interconnected looping trails and paths through a wide range of natural terrain without a map.

I-290 West toward AUBURN. Take the HOPE AVE / RT-12 N exit- EXIT 10.
Turn SLIGHT RIGHT onto HOPE AVE / MA-12. Continue to follow MA-12 N. 0.4 miles. Turn LEFT onto WEBSTER ST. 0.1 miles.Turn RIGHT onto KNOX ST.

I-290 East from Auburn. Take the SWANSON RD exit- EXIT 9-toward Auburn. Keep LEFT at the fork to go on SWANSON RD. Turn RIGHT onto VINE ST. 0.2 miles. Turn SLIGHT LEFT onto AUBURN ST. 0.1 miles. Turn SLIGHT RIGHT onto ROCKLAND RD. 0.7 miles. Turn RIGHT onto BOYCE ST. 0.5 miles. Turn SLIGHT RIGHT onto WEBSTER ST. <0.1 miles. Turn LEFT onto KNOX ST.

Drive to the end of Knox st. and park. You will see the large stone pillars, the one on the right says "Hadwen Park." Don't go through the pillars, but take a right onto the path just before them. It's a downhill trail, you will see red blazes on some trees. Notice the young Pines growing up to meet their elders. At the first intersecting path, stay straight on the red trail. The trail will curve to the left and you will see the river on your right. Look for beaver and swans! Continue on this red trail until you see the non-conforming tree on your right. Here you take a left and walk to the intersection where you then take a right onto a trail flanked by beautiful mature White Pines. You will come to a three way intersection where you will take the right trail. You will come out back on the red path, and see a tree with a huge burly knot in the trunk. Take a left on this trail, and again the river will be on your right. When you get to a clearing, take the trail that goes uphill, there will be a stand of birches on the right of the entrance of the uphill trail. At the top of the hill go left, pass by a stone foundation on your left. Go up a slight hill and and take the right then immediate left that heads down hill. Look for a large Pine on your left, and walk towards it off the trail. Walk past the first pine and towards the second large Pine. Cross the path and look for another large pine straight ahead with a split in it's trunk at about 6 foot height. Face the split in the trunk and then walk to the opposite side of the tree and stand with your back to the tree. Look straight ahead and see an old stump about 20 paces ahead. The box is at the base of this old stump. Please re-hide and cover well.
