In May, the Henderson County courthouse lawn is the staging place for the “Old Fiddler’s Reunion,” a Texas tradition since 1932. Here, some 100 contestants compete for one of five prizes in five different divisions. The event typically draws hundreds of spectators who are also treated to “jam sessions” performed by string bands playing Texas Swing music to the delight of boot shod street dancers waltzing in the glow of carnival lights.

Directions to Box

Across from the west side of the Henderson County Courthouse, you will find the Ginger Murchison Memorial Park or "Ginger's Park," an open area between store fronts on the square. Enter street side and walk to the southwest or back left corner of the park. There you will find two benches. Sit on the bench facing the light post and look left. You will see a sculptured holley tree. The box is on the ground between this tree and the wall under mulch. Please recover well to hide from gardener and also, use stealth as this is a high traffic area.
