July 2009 - Greenhouse is undergoing renovation, but you can still find a place to park along the lane south of the main greenhouse parking lot.

These 2 boxes are hidden at Sinnissippi Gardens on North Second Street in Rockford. Park by the greenhouse and head north past the lagoon to the rose garden. At the north end of the rose garden is a large white trellis; keep walking north through this trellis and you will come to a large open grassy area.

Find a park bench dedicated to someone who lived from 1924 to 1995. From that bench walk on a compass bearing of 100 degrees. Box #1 ("Before") is hidden under a pile of rocks, about 4 feet to the left of the maple tree. No logbook in this box, stamp only.

Next, continue to the north end of this grassy area, where you will find a gazebo. Stand in the center of the brick circle. Take a bearing of 110 degrees. This should point you towards two trees, one several feet behind the other. Pick your way carefully to the farther tree, the one closer to the street. Just beyond it and slightly to the left is a scrubby bush. Box is hidden under pile of rocks at the base of this bush. This box contains the stamp AND the logbook.

"Before" stamp carved by Krait; "After" carved by Trail Rider. Bring your own ink. For "Before" you will need orange and gray. For "After" black or red would look great.

Other nearby boxes are: "Ode to a Rose" and "A River Runs Through It".

This is a well-populated park. PLEASE be discreet when finding the boxes, and be sure to re-hide very well.
