Julie is turning forty, hip hip hooray…..
We are going to celebrate it in a most unusual way.
A letterbox has been placed for all to find
It’s hidden pretty good; hope you don’t mind.
In case you have not heard of letterboxing before,
It’s a mixture of treasure hunting, navigating, art and much more.
When you find the box, be sure to leave your mark behind
Good wishes for Julie would be so very kind.
In the quiet little town of Glen Ridge, at one of the schools
Kids are allowed to walk home alone; it is one of the rules.
This rule has changed the social lives of many moms; even mine I must say
Because chatting on the playground was often the highlight of our day
Walk on the playground, climb on the dome
This is the place that Donovan and Phillips call home.
Watch your step while you’re amidst the chips and the dirt
Find a place on the schoolyard where some kids have been hurt.
If you look really hard you just might see
A ribbon tied to it, to remind you of me!
Proceed to the street and cross at the light
Head towards the police station if only you might
Cross Ridgewood Avenue and find the big tree
The one that each year fills holiday hearts with glee
Push through the branches, but be careful as you do
Somewhere hidden in the tree a star has been placed for you.
Please continue on your journey and south you shall go
Cross Bloomfield Avenue…you’ll be careful I know!
When something is going on in Glen Ridge, you can learn about it here,
Things like concerts & plays, Spring Fling, and even an environmental fair.
If you look all around, you might find something pink
Someone very clever used them as a fundraiser I think….
Now head in the direction of the Glen Ridge Community Pool;
the place where, as President, Julie’s husband once did rule.
Once you cross Bloomfield Avenue, the steps will be within sight,
Follow them down to the ground and keep the tracks at your right…….
Just ahead is a structure which was Made in the “Shade”,
On a very hot day, it can give comfort and aide.
Take a break from the heat,
Is it by your feet……NO, it’s under the seat!!
