“Hartman Rocks Letter Box”
Located in Gunnison, Colorado at Hartman Rocks Recreation area.

If you are coming from Montrose (on Hwy 50) into Gunnison you will see a brown sign pointing the way to Hartman Rocks just as you start to enter the out skirts of town. You will turn right onto CR 38. If coming from in town (Gunnison) on Hwy 50 towards Montrose you will turn left onto CR 38 as you are leaving town. Continue on CR 38 until you come to the Hartman Rocks recreation area on your right, park in the parking lot by the restrooms.
Start by following the trail to the left of the restrooms, you will come to a “Y” take the left side.
Just a short distance and you will come to another “Y” take the right side, keep following this trail as it takes you up the hill.
When you get to the top of this trail there will be a trail sign and a big log on your left, turn right and follow this trail as it curves around to your left and goes up.
You will come to a “Y” take the right side go to the “Jacks Trail” sign and turn left follow the trail up, it will zig zag a few times as it takes you up into the rocks.
Keep following this trail up, you will pass a big group of rocks on your right, just past this on your right is a big tree stump.
From here take 107 steps forward, at 107 you will see a big group of rocks on your left walk up to the rock face at about 4 feet from the ground you will see a crevice, inside is what you seek.
Please make sure to replace everything as it was found. Enjoy!
