(Sorry...this letterbox was destroyed a week after placing it. We hope to put a new one in the same area before winter. The Katkidz, Aug 26, 2007)
This letterbox is located at a favorite stop for day-trippers and locals. Commonly known as Picnic Point, it can be accessed by walking from the ferry landing approx 3/4 mile. Follow Island Ave to Whitehead Street. Go down Whitehead St and take the dirt road after the turn at bottom of the hill. Follow the dirt road to a footpath which leads out to the point. Once at Picnic Point, stop for a swing on the tree-swing if you are so inclined. Follow either path through the middle of the point, past the well-used fire pit. Stay on the path that points straight out to the opening of Whitehead Passage. There is a single tree on the very edge of the rocks. Under the tree you'll find the box. Enjoy the beautiful view.
