Directions:
North Chagrin Reservation
Strawberry Pond area
Take route 90 to the Willoughby/Willoughby Hills exit of Som Center Rd/Route 91. Turn left on Som Center Rd/Route 91 south and continue on until you take a left at Route 6/Chardon Road. Turn right into the first Metro park entrance and go about a 1/2 mile until you turn right into the Strawberry Pond/Picnic parking lot.
Needs: Letterboxing equipment and bug spray
After you park the car, cross the street and find the kiosk with the maps of all the trails in the North Chagrin Reservation on it. Find the Scenic loop (Wildflower path) and start you way to it. Following the scenic loop (which is a 1.6 mile loop) and you will enjoy many wildflowers and ravines. The path will take you along the beautiful ravine and once you cross over a wooden foot bridge, a couple steps carved into the dirt and past a huge tree that has fallen into the ravine and exposed it's massive root system. (really cool) You will start back up a hill and at the top of the hill to the right of the path you will see a huge tree! (You can't even touch your hands together if you tried to hug this tree!) Look behind the tree, and at the base, behind some bark is the letterbox. Please make sure you replace it to exactly where you found it. Continue on the path and it will loop right back to where you started! Enjoy your day at the park!
