Keith Richards Memorial Letterbox
Jacobs Hill Reservation: Royalston, MA

(Note: Doggie Bag Denizens is also along this path. Make sure to get
their clues too!)

Take Route 2 to 202 (North), and follow for about 2.4 miles. Turn left onto Route 68 (North) and go 8.6 miles towards the center of Royalston. Continue on Routh 68 North from the center for about a half-mile until you reach a small entrance/parking area on the left.

Park your car and follow the yellow blazed trail. Eventually you will
reach a sign that says scenic overlook right, Spirit Falls left. You
will want to take a right.

This is a relatively quick walk to a beautiful scenic outlook. This
outlook was a favorite place of a close family friend, Keith Richards,
who passed away following a battle with cancer. Keith was very
passionate about his family, music, the outdoors, and especially this
spot. He was the first person to show our crew this lovely outlook, so
we have chosen to create a letterbox in his memory so that other people
can experience the peace that this place brought Keith.

Once you reach the Scenic View, walk up to the large split rock facing
the view. Looking over your right shoulder, notice a faint trail heading uphill. Walk about 30 steps up this trail, and this should bring you to look upon a small grouping of
rocks. When you get up to the rocks, take a compass reading of 130°
(magnetic) and head about 10 steps in that direction. You should see a
rotting log, and you will find your prize in a gap in some rocks in
front of this log.

From here, you can choose to end your hike and return to your car the
way you came, or you can continue on to get the doggie bag denizens
series, which will bring you on a loop hike by Spirit Falls and
eventually back to your car.
