This box is a part of the Parade of Books Letterbox Series. The clues lead from box to box. You should check the first box in the series, Lord of the Flies, for general trail information.

Lois McMaster Bujold has multiple Hugos and Nebulas. She writes both science fiction and fantasy. This letterbox comes from her Vorkosigan series. Barrayar is planet that had been isolated and fell into a more feudalistic society. The books deal with culture clashes as that world comes back into contact with other worlds and elements within the world attempt to bring about more modern viewpoints. Or you could say the books are romances. Or they are sweeping space operas. Or they are humor books. Or they are political thrillers. I’ll just say that I think that Bujold is a great storyteller. Plus she gave me the names for my cats, Miles and Ivan. The first books in the series were Shards of Honor and Barrayar. They were also published in one volume as Cordelia’s Honor. The Vorkosigan coat of arms is mentioned numerous times; one of my favorites involves an armsman who has taken service with a character from one of the most powerful families without knowing his true identity. At the very end of the story he asks, “My Lord. For my curiosity – before you go, may I be permitted to know what house I serve?
“What, you haven’t figured that out yet?” Miles looked to Elena in astonishment.
Bothari’s daughter shrugged, “Security.”
“Well, I’m not going to shout it out in this crowd, but if you ever go shopping for livery, which doesn’t seem too bloody likely – choose brown and silver.”
“But – But that’s”
Miles smiled, wickedly gratified. “Break him in gently, Elena.”

To find the Vorkosigan Arms, for which you will need brown and silver, continue on from the Striped Ice Cream. Follow the path until you come to a stop ahead sign. From the sign take 21 steps. Stop and look to the right. Slightly down the slope, you will see a pile of moss covered wood where the Vorkosigan Arms box is hidden.
