Find the sign indicating the Knickerbocker Lake Recreation Area off Barter Island Road (same road the Botanical Gardens are on). Take this road to the small parking area at the end.
Go through two rocks, across a cement bridge and towards the dock. Walk to the end of the dock to see the sights. Then, 31 steps back to land, and 40 more back down the path. Stop here and turn to head toward the farmer's field.
Look for the four trunked tree just beyond an old stone wall. The letterbox is buried at its base.
