Make your way to the stretch of Rt 72 between the intersection of Rt 6 in Terryville and Rt 4 Harwinton. Roughly 2/3rds of the way to Harwinton, there is an intersection for Blueberry Hill Road across from some water company property. Go east on Blueberry Hill Road, up the hill to an intersection; there is a gate for Bristol Reservoir #5, then head north along the dirt road for about a mile. The road here is also part of the Tunxis/ Blue Dot trail, and the blazes are marked on telephone poles along the route. At the northernmost end of Blueberry Hill Road is another water company gate (please do not block it, or the driveway) and the trail leaves the road. Go up the trail about 100 or so feet, and the trail begins downhill at a slight grade. About 200 feet farther (give or take) is an area recently cleared by bulldozers. Go 50 or so more feet, and to your left about 200 feet is a bunch of downed logs and an old farm foundation from the 1800’s. In the winter it is visible from the trail, but if the ferns are out, it is not. Pick your way through the brush to the foundation- take the low route so that you are inside the foundation. In the Northwest corner, behind some branches and rocks, is a camouflaged 2 gallon bucket. The bucket is the letterbox (it is also a geocache). Please sign the log and mark with your stamp.
Warning: This area is rife with ticks and poison ivy in the spring and fall. Please respect the neighbors’ privacy, and remember to keep your dogs leashed at all times.
Happy Letterboxing!
