Trail Advisories:
This is MDC Property so sorry no dogs allowed.
Entire walk can be completed in about an hour. 30 minutes each way and allow time to check out the bog.
Bring binoculars as we saw several Wood Ducks and another unknown species (We didn't have ours.)
The Trailing Arbutus (MA State flower aka the Mayflower) were blooming the day we placed the box.
Bug spray might be a good idea after these hot days.
Drive:
Rte 190 to Rte 140N to Rte 62W to Holden Road in Sterling. Holden Road is on the left about one half mile from the 140 & 62 intersection. The parking area is on the right about one mile up the hill.
Walk:
From the parking lot enter the trail at 290 degrees. Walk + or - one half mile to a Y. Take the trail at 245 degrees. Follow the trail to the boardwalk entrance. Turn around and walk 25 steps back up the trail. Take the path at 230 degrees. Walk 20 steps. Turn to face 165 degrees. Walk 7 steps. Look behind the flat rock. Please don't tip the stone out of its hole. Just reach behind it. Please hide it well. Happy hunting and good luck. Enjoy this unusual preserve. Barry49
