This letterbox was hidden at a time of great excitement and trepidation for the Red Sox. Once 11 1/2 games ahead, now only 4 games ahead of the dreaded Yankees. Go Sox!

The letterbox is hidden in the Bailey Woods. FYI there is another letterbox in these same woods - see the 2007 Letterbox under Sherborn.

To find the Bailey Trail, park at the intersection of Route 16 (Washington Street) and Old Orchard Road. Park on Old Orchard Road. Follow the trail across the culvert for about five minutes until you see a trail heading up hill to the right. Take this right hand trail and continue up the hill. At the top, pass through a stone wall and turn left at the trail interesection. (There is often a red cross spray painted on a tree here). Continue on the trail up the hill to the three way intersection at the top. Bear left again. Pass through another stone wall and notice how the stone wall to the left of the trail is well built and quite high. This is one of the most beautiful stone walls we have ever seen on all our hikes in New England. Continue through the white pines along the trail as it descends the hill, keeping an eye on that amazing stone wall. Further down the hill the trail parallels the wall, if at some distance. When you finally see the stone wall stop abruptly, this is your cue to leave the trail. Go to the spot where the big wall ends. Note the small drill hole in the granite stone at the end of the wall that once marked the corner of someone's property. Now standing on the far side of the wall from the trail, face back up the hill with the stone wall directly on your left. Take six normal adult steps along the wall. Turn to the wall. Look for two small stones, the top stone of which is slightly triangular, that look a bit suspicious. You may feel the remains of an old rotted stump directly beneath your feet. Behind these stones is the Red Sox Letterbox. It is well hidden so don't lose faith in the Sox or the box! The letterbox is in there.

After you stamp in and replace the stones, continue on the trail to the bottom of the hill here it comes to a T junction. turn left to continue around the loop. At the bottom of the next hill, turn left again so that the swamp is on your right. Follow along until you find yourself back on the trail that leads to your car. Thanks for visiting our letterbox!

P.S. My six year old son, who hid the box with me, says that the more people who find the box, the higer the chance the Sox will make it to the World Series. Happy Hunting!
