Old Chief Joseph
Joseph, Oregon
August 1,2007

South of Joseph and just before you reach Wallowa Lake you will find the final resting spot of old Chief Joseph. While checking out his gravesite make sure you read every LINE, WORD, and LETTER in the informational plaque.
Clues:
The Letterbox is hidden 3-2-3, 3-2-4, 3-1-2 / 4-2-1, 4-2-3, 5-1-2, 3-2-3, 5-3-1, 5-4-3 of a 6-2-3, 6-4-5, 6-10-1, 6-10-4 North of the gravesite and monument. There is a wide area to park on the 3-2-5, 4-4-3, 5-4-3, 5-5-4 side of the road. Cross the road carefully and take 5-5-4, 5-4-1, 5-3-2, 4-3-8, v, 5-3-2 steps 3-1-4 of the bridge railing to a line of 4-3-4, 4-3-3, 4-3-4, 4-1-2 boulders. One of the boulders looks like a muffin or a big butt. Go 3-1-4 along the boulder line to a break in the boulder line and the last boulder on the right points upward into a small bushy alcove. Go to the two largest boulders in that alcove and under rocks in front of the largest boulder you will find the old chief still riding his pony in full battle garb.
