This letterbox, including the stamp and logbook, was moved from its former location in Norris, Tennessee, to this location. Although the log book shows it had been damp, I have chosen to continue using it as it is still serviceable, and better than one I could ever make. The box was miraculously found by “NannipapawTo4” in Norris about 250 yards from where it was originally secreted and returned to me for rehiding. The clues below will take you to the new location.
Find the Knoxville, TN, road intersection with the following businesses at its four corners: Phillips Gas, Pilot Gas, Sherman Williams, a medical office building. Turn west and drive through a quiet, nicely landscaped community. People seem to like flowers here; I saw no 'For Sale' signs, so the turnover rate must be low.
Anyway, can you see that you might be heading in the direction of a park? You should go to that park and park by the playground. For some reason, this area sort of reminds me of our pet Iguana, Carol, who weighs 1,809 grams now.
There is a foot trail emanating from this park; the city calls it a greenway, and you will want to get on it. A yucky pond and a greenish sentinel guard its entrance.
A fallen dead tree on the left soon points the way with an arrow (as if you needed a clue where to go). Around a curve will be a stone and metal bridge to keep you convinced you are on the right path.
There will be a point where you don’t know what the heck to do. This doesn’t usually happen. But as luck would have it, the Liriodendron tulipifera to your left has a perfect place to secret a letterbox. Can you dig it?
Thanks to Lighting the Way, New Hampshire, for carving this stamp and making the log.
In order to celebrate this new location, a new, re-designed First Finder's Certificate has been designed and installed in this box. Who will find it first?! Let the games begin!
