Mickey Charles Mantle (1931-1995), born in Oklahoma, was one of the most popular baseball players of all time. He was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1974. He played his entire 18-year major-league professional career for the New York Yankees, winning 3 American League MVP titles and playing for 16 All-Star teams. Mantle played on 12 pennant winners and 7 World Championship clubs. He still holds the records for most World Series home runs (18), RBIs (40), runs (42), walks (43), extra-base hits (26), and total bases (123). Mickey Mantle's number 7 was retired by the New York Yankees in 1969. Mantle died on August 13, 1995 at age 63, and is buried in Dallas, Texas.

If you would like to pay your respects to Mickey, park and enter the Mausoleum through the main entrance in the center of the building. Take the first hallway to the right, and then proceed to the second hallway on your left (St. Matthew). Go through the double glass doors, and you will find the tomb of Mickey Charles Mantle on your right.

Clues:
The letterbox is located at Sparkman-Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery on Northwest Hwy. in Dallas (just west of Hwy. 75/North Central Expressway beside Northpark Mall). Drive into the main entrance passing the pond on your left. The mausoleum will be in front of you. Take the road to the left (in front of the mausoleum) and follow it to the right, passing the Pioneer Garden (on your left), then the road splits into three directions. You will pass by the Pioneer Garden (on your left), then the road will divide into thirds. Take the middle road between the Fireman’s Rest on your right and the Companion Garden on your left. (As Yogi Brera said, “when you come to the fork in the road, take it”.) You will see a statue in the Companion Garden of a man and woman. Park nearby and walk to the statue. As you face the couple, what you seek is under the front bush to your left.

Please be careful to replace the box well back under the bush and under the rock so it will not be detected.
