Status of Mini-box: Alive and Well on 9/15/2008
The "Cuddle Bear" mini-box is located in Yoho at one of my favorite lakes, Emerald Lake. Not only is the lake great to look at, you can also rent canoes, hike, fish or just sit at the lodge and enjoy a drink and take in the scene.
Directions:
From Field, go west on Hwy 1. Very soon, turn right on road to Emeral Lake and go all the way to the end. At the end is a an oval parking area. Park.
To the Mini-box:
From the parking, find the 3 bathroom cabins, and take the path going past them. Continue past the picnic area, and the Burgess Shale overlook, to the next overlook with two plaques on the large rocks. From here, continue on the path for 16 more steps. Go left off the path and uphill for 9 steps into the middle of a tree group. Look left and up, and you should see the mini-box hanging at about 6ft from the back side of the largest tree.
