There is an admission fee of $7.00 for parking on the weekends only, from Memorial Day through Labor Day. The rest of the time it's free to get in. In the winter months the front parking area is open. After passing the admission booth pull into the first parking area (just past a small cemetry)There are several letterboxes hidden in this park. Even a couple on the trail you'll be on today!

Anyway, your hike starts on the white trail which begins from this parking lot.

The Original Three... Lon Chaney, Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi. With hundreds of movies to their credit they are, in my opinion the 3 most recognizable Monster movie characters of all time! Sure we've had some pretty scary monsters since these three but I think you'd agree they're the ones who started it all off.

Enter the white trail, after a short distance you'll come upon a stone wall that the trail runs through, as you pass through turn left on a narrow unmarked trail follow it to the bottom, as it intersects with another trail look to your left, hidden in a large stump behind a stone door you'll find Lon Chaney as "The Phantom of the Opera"
This version starring Lon Chaney "The Man of a thousand faces" was released in 1925. Lon's son Lon Cahney Jr. was also an actor he played "The Wolfman" which came out in 1941. To learn more about Lon and his son visit their offical site at www.lonchaney.com

Head back up to the main trail and continue on until you reach a large fallen tree on the left side of the trail. From it's base take a reading of 210* and bushwack 34 steps to a waist high boulder sitting atop of the hill. From the front of this boulder take a reading of 345* and go to the base end of a fallen tree. Hidden inside you'll find Boris Karloff as "FRANKENSTEIN" which was released in 1931.Boris Karloff also played The Mummy which came out the following year. To learn more about Boris visit his offical site at www.karloff.com

Back to the trail, follow on as the trail will gradually desend then level out. Then just before it desends steeper look to the left (about 100 feet off the trail) for a large boulder approx. 18 feet long, hidden on the west side behind a stone door you'll find Bela Lugosi as "DRACULA"
Probably the most famous moster of all time. This version was released in 1931. Bela Lugosi was actually born near the western border of Transylvania. He also played The Hunch Back of Notre Dame. Since this original version there have been 167 "Dracula" movies and 7 television shows and like "Frankenstein" he even has his own cereal!

When finsihed either go back the way you came or continue on the white trail as it will loop around and eventually join the red/yellow trail that will take you back to the parks main driveway.
