Letterbox Vincent
ESTABLISHED: August 22, 1998
CLUE DIFFICULTY: Easy
CLUE REVISED: July 25, 2011
TERRAIN: Easy/Moderate

Letterbox Vincent is the third box of three planted on this trail. The other two boxs are El Corazon and Antoine de Saint-Exupery. All three of these boxes were originally carved and planted by Bonita, one of the pioneers of letterboxing. This box became missing in 2007. I guess you could say, it done a bunk. In 2011, The Lazy Letterboxer recarved this stamp and BlackA re-hid the box to celebrate an event, "10 Years of Boxing Fun".

Dedicated to Vincent van Gogh

First, follow the clues for El Corazon and Antione de Saint-Exupery letterboxes. After finding Antione de Saint-Exuprey letterbox continue on the M&M Trail. After crossing a wooden bridge, walk aways until you come to a T intersection, where the path meets a odirt road. At the T intersection, turn around. Go back down the path 6 steps and look to your right. Walk to the three trunked tree. Vincent is behind the twisted sisters under a rock. (If you listen hard enough you may hear Apollo's musical face off with pan.)

To get back to your car you can complete the loop path by following the M&M trail, (white blazes), until you get to Jerusalem Road. Go right onto Jerusalem Road and walk until you come to a fork in the road. Go right at the fork and you will be back in the parking lot. It's about a mile.

If you like climbing and brought a trail map with you, from Jerusalem Road you can proceed to two scenic overlooks. Or, you can retrace your steps on the M&M Trail, heading back the way you came and taking time to observe the mushroom, wildflowers, and beautiful waterfalls that you passed on your way to the letterboxes.

Thank you for coming to Wendell State Forest. I hope you had a pleasant visit! --Bonnie Sennott
