There is an admission fee of $7.00 for parking on weekends only from Memorial Day through Labor Day. The rest of the time it's free to get in. In the winter months the front parking area is open. After passing the admission booth pull into the first parking lot (just past a small cemetery) on the right side.

There are several letterboxes hidden in this park. Even a few on the trail you'll be on today. Bring clues to "The Original Three"

Your hike begins on the White trail which starts at this parking lot.

This hike, BFF (Best Friend Forever) is dedicated to my wife Susan. The boxes planted represent a few of her favorite things.

Follow the White trail until you reach a stone wall in which the trail passes through, just after passing through turn left and follow the unmarked trail down hill to a "T" intersection. Turn right onto the Red/Yellow trail aka Split Rock Trail (You'll see why soon enough) Follow this trail until you come upon a massive glacier deposit. After checking it out, return to the trail and seek out the two blazed trees across from each other with blazes facing opposite directions. Standing between them, take 47 paces (counting left foot only). You'll see a stump on the left with a moss covered rock outcropping behind it. Go up to the rocks, hidden on the NW side under it's top most rock you'll find the "FLOWERS" LB.

Susan's love for flowers shows in the gardens we have in our yard, even though it's a lot of work she continues to add to them each year. It's quite amazing.

Back to the trail, soon it will go down a steep hill, cross over a streambed on a stone bridge and intersect with the White trail. Turn right, the trail will sharply turn to the right and you'll soon notice a unique tree growing at a 45* angle then shooting straight up. Continue on as the trail will soon descend and pass through a stone wall. Just as you pass through, follow it into the woods in a NE direction until you see a twin sister with a deceased relative resting between them. Climb over the wall at this point and look in the dearly departed where it rests on the twins for the nesting spot of the "HUMMINGBIRD" LB.

Susan also loves birds; we're very fortunate to have the variety of birds in our yard that we do. Susan is especially fond of the hummingbird. She has planted many flowers to attract them.

Back to the trail, follow it as it will soon intersect with Orange. Turn right staying on White. The trail will eventually come to a hill, while going up the hill be on the look out for a thin blazed tree on the right with a funky birch tree behind it. From the thin tree take a reading of 100* and head into the woods to a twin sister tree. While standing behind it take a reading of 120* and go to the next closest tree with a moss covered slab in front of it. Hidden behind the tree you'll find the "DOGS" LB.

Anyone who would own 5 dogs as we do would either really love dogs or be crazy. (Or maybe a little of both) Susan really does love our dogs. You can be sure that one of them is with her at all times, like a shadow. She does of course have a favorite who happens to be featured in this stamp. Her name is Gracie and she's a miniature longhaired daschund.

Go back to the trail and follow it back to your car. Beware for there are Monsters on this trail.

So you can tell my wife enjoys the simple things in life and she instills those beliefs in our daughter and has taught me to enjoy the simple things in life as well. Sometimes there is no greater joy than to sit outside and watch the birds fly in and out of our garden with my wife and daughter and all 5 of our dogs by our sides.
