I 89 Exit 19 Rt 4 East Go approx .7 miles on Rt 4 to Slayton Hill Road on the right. Go up the hill 1.6 miles (past Farnum Hill Road) to Marie's Way on the right. The Farnum Hill Reserve marker and parking is just ahead. The Slayton Hill Trail starts to the right of the parking. This is a moderate climb on well marked trails with a blue and white blaze. Allow about 1.5 hours for the round trip.

Box #1 Cross Roads:
Follow the blue and white trail for about half an hour and you will come to a cross road of trails. Locate the sign for the Reserve on a tree. Face the sign and look to the left for two trees that grow as one; just beyond is another large tree look at the base for the small stone cave hiding place for the cross roads.

Box #2 Nut-miser:
Go back to the Reserve sign and face it; take the first trail to the right of the one you arrived on; also know as Poverty Hill South. Follow the blue and white blaze for about ten minutes and you will come to a stone bridge over an often dry brook bed. Stand by the large rock before the stone bridge; turn around and take ten steps back the way you came; look to the right for another two trees that grow as one. At the base of the birch to the right you will find the Nut-miser hinding behind a rock.

You can turn around now or continue on for a loop to the highest point of this trail; allow another hour. In August 2005 we came upon a large bear at the top of this loop. These boxes are dedicated to that wonderful encounter.

August 2010 We checked on the boxes and they are fine. This is a great spot! Hope you go out to look for our boxes!
