Directions: From McCall, head west along E. Lake St. Turn right onto Warren Wagon Road. Eventually you will turn right following signs to North Beach Ponderosa State Park on Eastside Drive. Continue past the campground until you see a turn in to park at the North Beach Ponderosa State Park. You will know you reached the correct parking spot when it says Beach Access Parking, Peter J. Johnson Interpretive Trail. This is a fee parking area ($4ish).
McCall Fun: THIS BOX IS MISSING (7/08)!!! From the parking lot, head to the beach. After crossing the first boardwalk, the tall stump on the left hides what you seek. Inside it bears some of the fun available in McCall.
McCall Swim Club: ALIVE (7/08) Continue toward the beach until you reach the North Beach Ponderosa State Park sign. Head right along the beach. You will pass the restrooms on the right and then further along you will spy a boardwalk crossing off the right. Head to the right side of it and you will spy a large, burnt stump between the pier and the beach. Go to this stump. From this stump, face into the woods behind you where you will spy another smaller stump which hides McCall Swim Club, about 21 steps away. For the polar bear swim club members, you will want to bring your suit and snorkel gear along.
