Green Heron Letterbox

From Route 6 turn onto Mill Road which is across from Nasketucket Cemetery.

Follow the road until you get to the old Waterworks red brick building on the right. Park on the edge of the circular drive or near the building.

Nice little walk around the building -- sometimes there is a Green Heron or some Eastern Bluebirds, sometimes a muskrat or two busily bringing grasses somewhere. The old tree on the opposite side hanging over the river usually has some basking turtles on it.

Cross over the little bridge and walk down the road, passing the soccer fields on the right. There are lots of geese, Killdeer and birds of prey to be seen if you walk around the fields.

But to find the box, keep on the road. Just before you get to what looks like the entrance to a driveway where the boulder fence is coming to an end, look to your left and you'll see a path into the woods.

Starting at the opening into the woods, follow the path about 140 to 150 paces. You'll get to a small holly on the right where the stone wall comes back close to the path. The letterbox (hopefully) is in back of the wall wrapped in black plastic.

It's sometimes pretty overgrown there so watch for bugs and briars.
