This past summer we got to take our children on their first cruise, which made a stop in Cozumel, Mexico. We took a cab to San Gervasio, the best Mayan ruins on the Island. There we hired a tour guide for about $17.00. The ruins are not that big, so the tour only took about 45 minutes. They have some real nice structures there and our kids loved all the iguanas . This is our first letterbox out of the States, but hopefully won’t be our last. We love the Yucatan and can’t wait to return. (It is around $5.00 US dollars to get into the site, per person)
Ix-Chel is a Mayan Goddess of the Moon. Also know as an ancient fertility goddess, Ix-Chel was responsible for sending rain to nourish the crops. When fulfilling that function, she was called “Lady Rainbow." She helped ensure fertility by overturning her sacred womb jar so that the waters would flow.
Clue: I believe we were in the Plaza Central. There was a sign near where your need to be at that had “El Osario” on it. Find the Jaguar’s paw, it has a small grass roof over it. Face the paw, turn left and walk 12 steps. To your right should be a concrete marker that says Grupo 1 - 1981. The Microbox is behind this marker in a camo film canister.
* There is suppose to be another LB at this site, “Cozumel Catch." We forgot our clues on the ship and could not remember enough to find the LB.
