OH, NO!, the City work crew mowed our letterbox today!(July 11, 2008) I guess the bittersweet was getting too thick. For now there is NO letterbox on Skillings Avenue. But the contents are OK, so when we find a new spot to hide a new box we will post new clues. Check back for The Donut Dunkers new box!

It used to be...
Our letterbox is hidden about a mile from the ferry landing, and half a mile from the school. For you hardy letter boxers, our letterbox will be very difficult to find with snow on the ground.

If you are familiar with the island, go directly to the west end of Skillings Ave. Skip to the fourth paragraph of the clues.

To find Skillings Ave., let’s start at the main gate of the school. Take the “high road” because it is very PLEASANT. As you walk upon your way, notice the deer frolicking on the shutters of the magenta Doe Den, the twisted, woody, spiderweb gate, and the little white Russian Cottage nestled in the woods, with a mysterious well in the yard, next to the marsh. When you see a giant oak nearly in the road looming ahead of you, you are nearly there. Just past Bide A Wee, opposite a yellow house, is Skillings Ave. If you reach the stop sign, you’ve gone too far.

To find our letterbox, take 36 paces up Skillings Ave. On your left will be a half-buried, weather-withered rock. Turn around and count 13 paces back the way you came. To your right you will see a rotten log laying in pieces just off the edge of the road. Hidden in the tangle of Bittersweet vines at the left end of this log is a decaying tree stump. Our letterbox waits for you, within the rotting stump.

Happy hunting!
