Locust Shade Pond
4701 Locust Shade Dr.
Triangle Va 22172
just off 95 near Quantico Marine Base

Drive into the park and look for the "voilet" and "laurel" park and walk down to the marina. Walk to the water and start following the path to the right, you will start on a dock/deck like path that soon turns to dirt then gravel. Continue along the path to a T, turn left to continue around the pond and on to the boxes. You will come to a sign that states what your not allowed to do, just past the sign at the 2nd large tree (the one in the path not the edge of the woods) turn towards the woods and notice a stump. Three steps to the left is a faint trail into the woods, follow the trail into the woods and along a downed pine tree. At the end of the tree is a large tree with it's twin to the right. Go between, ahead is another downed tree follow it to the right and down a slight hill to a stump at the edge of a small field. Hidden at the base of this stump under some rotting bark and leaves is box #1. Please poke first. Follow the downed tree back to the top and back through the two trees to the pond.
Continueing right around the pond at the Y stay left, cross over some trees that went for a swim. After the third notice some beaver activity to the right and ahead a large beaver dam. Carefull not to disturbe skirt the dam, theres not much room here so be cautious. You will pass a double tree on the left (trail gets very faint and muddy through this next part) You will now cross several "bridges" (one is missing and it can be very messy here where appropriat shoes) at next faint Y go left. Cross over a few more bridges and you'll come to the main path through some overgrown flower bushes. Back on solid path you'll come to a giant tree on the right just 8 more steps is a post, to the right of the post is a trail. Follow the trail up the slight hill to a tree-n-tree. Facing the tree-n-tree sight 30 degree to a tree split in two at the base. At the base of this tree under many small brances and leaves is box #2. Poke first and use caution, there is a ball field at the top of the hill, you may be watched. Now back down the hill to the pond continuing right. You've gotten both boxes, hopefully, take a seat and enjoy the view. Continue on the path back to the marina and parking lot.
Both stamp go together to make one image, sort of, the 1st box shows placement of first stamp in you logbook. Hope you enjoy, this is my first placement attempt. Let me know what you think.
