Level of Difficulty: Easy
Time: 2 miles round-trip
Directions:
Mothers’ Love is in honor of our son. It was planted at Dyken Pond in Cropseyville. Take Route 2 East out of Troy. From the Tamarac School (on the left), go 1.7 miles and turn right onto Route 79 (Blue Factory Road) following signs for Dyken Pond. Go 2 miles and turn left onto Route 80 (Madonna Lake Road). Go 2.2 miles and turn right onto Dyken Pond Road. This is a dirt road. Follow it for 2.5 miles (Please note that there is a trailhead at 1.7 miles, do not stop here) to the parking area.
**You may want to print a map before heading out. You can print one from here: http://www.dykenpond.org/trails/
Clue:
Follow the grassy path up the hill to a brown barn sign for the Abbt Farm Trail. Following this trail into the woods (the trail will turn into mulch). At the brown direction sign, go left, continuing to follow the Abbt Farm Trail. It will turn through a rock wall. At the “T” take a right onto the Long Trail. At the “Y” take a right, following the Long Trail. The “Mary Oakley” sign will be on your left. Pass the “Old Road” trail on the left and then again on the left. At the intersection, take a right, following the sign for the Long Trail Short Cut. Take your next left, following the sign for the Grandfather Rock. At the Grandfather Rock, locate the large dead “V” tree at 320 degrees. Look behind it for Mothers’ Love. Continue the way you just came and pass the short cut you took previously on the right. After a little while, you will come to a “T” intersection. This may be a little difficult to see. There is a 3 ft. boulder with a small one next to it on the right and a tree on the left hand side stating Otter Creek Trail. Go RIGHT onto Otter Creek Trail. At the next “T” take a left. Take your next left and them the next right and following it out to your car.
We hope you enjoyed our Mothers’ Love LB!!
