Directions: From I-65, take exit 20 William H. Natcher Parkway toward Bowling Green/Owensboro. Take exit 4 for US-31W toward Bowling Green. Turn right at US-31W N. 31W turns into Nashville Rd.

The Lost River Cave and Valley is an urban Nature Sanctuary. Sixty-eight acres of green space include a diversity of wildlife habitat including river, wetlands, blue holes, limestone bluffs, grassland prairie, cedar glade, springs, and hardwood forest. The valley boasts over 130 species of birds during spring migration and an abundance of mammals, reptiles, and amphibians. This web of life extends into the cave, where countless critters live quietly in the darkness.

After parking, walk to the park entrance and cross the bridge. Follow the signs to "Valley Trails and Blue Holes". You are going to the Butterfly Habitat.

While walking the trail, you will pass Blue Hole #1. Stop and pick up ky chameleon's Blind Blue Boil then continue on your way. The woodland trail will lead you to the enchanting Butterfly Habitat. When you enter the enclosed garden, you'll be surrounded by Kentucky's native butterflies.

After enjoying the butterflies, take a seat on the bench outside the entrance. Scoot to the right and reach down under the rock to find Flutter Trails.

This box was planted as a result of HermitCrab's logbook which was created from an inspiration after a hike. Be sure to send her a message commenting on this awesome logbook!

They were charging to hike the trails, but when this box was planted, they had a sign that stated that the nature trails were free.
