In the old town of Rathdrum, stands one of the oldest brick buildings in Idaho. Built in 1906, this beautiful building is still the only Catholic church in Rathdrum. The bricks for this building were made by a man named Tottenhoun from clay in nearby Hidden Valley.
Directions to the letterbox:
This letterbox is hidden in a rocky area with grotto's and caves. Please do not enter them, as they are very dangerous. This is a very pretty area and fun to explore with adult supervision.
Traveling east down Main Street, turn right onto McCartney St. then one block later take a left onto Second St. The church sits on the corner of McCartney and Second but you are not going to the church. Follow the gravel road past the old Lodge and the Old Jail. Park in the large turnaround.
To the east of the parking lot you will see two large paths (dirt roads) heading into the woods. Take the right path. After a short distance, take the small trail to the right that heads up a hill. You'll immediatlely pass a large rock outcropping on the left and a downed old tree on the right. Spy the rock that says BEWARE and go the top. At the top of the rock, look to the west for an upturned stump. The letterbox is hidden under it.
If you look west you can see the beautiful Catholic Church with its blue neon cross that welcomes you to Rathdrum.
Please rehide the box well.
