Dip The Dip 2 LbNA # 35007

Indian Park in Montoursville has a rich history of recreation for the residents of Lycoming County. This modest community park was once home to a 20-acre lake, a theater that seated 1,000, and an amusement park which boasted Dip the Dip, one of the tallest roller coasters on the east coast! Some old-timers in our community still remember riding the trolley from Market Square in Williamsport to Indian Park to enjoy its delights in the early part of the 20th century. Little of the original Star Island or Indian Park remains today, but the modern park remains a source of enjoyment to the people of Montoursville.
The modern-day Indian Park has two entrances off of Loyalsock Avenue in Montoursville – for this box, it will be easiest to take the westernmost entrance, which is Park Road. Continue on Park Road until you pass 2 ball fields (1 on either side of the road). Once you pass the ball fields find a place to park. Located behind pavilion #2 is a large path/road that goes to the soccer field. Beside the soccer field is the original platform for the Trolley stop that ran from Williamsport to Indian Park. Locate the sign for the platform, don’t shuffle your feet, and have a seat. At 70° sight the guided path leading into the woods. As you follow your guide it will make a noticeable V into the woods. Standing at the base of the V, look into the center of the woods. 6 steps towards the center of the woods will be a dead tree. The box is located halfway down inside the dead log on the left hand side. After stamping in you can either continue around the trail or head back the way you came.
***This park is used and enjoyed by many people every day…please use discretion, snap box lid tightly and replace securely. Box contains stamp and log; BYO ink and pen. We appreciate your comments regarding the condition of the box and its contents.***
