WE HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED THAT BOX WAS STOLEN :-(. NOT SURE IF WE WILL REPLACE AT THIS TIME AS THE SPOT'S SECRECY HAS BEEN COMPROMISED......WILL POST A NEW ONE SOON!

THIS LETTERBOX IS HIDDEN IN THE WAR MEMORIAL PARK, WEST BRIDGEWATER.
Depending on which way you're coming, head down either Rte 106 (East Center St.) or Rte 28 (Main St.) towards West Bridgewater center. Where Rte 106 intersects with Rte 28 is Central Square. There is a fifth street off of this intersection that runs between New Image Salon and Dr. Zamaitis Dentist office on your left and the automotive place on your right. This is River Street. War Memorial Park is a short distance down on your left.

This park is beautifully maintained and a great place to have a picnic lunch. Easy walking and good letterbox for kids to find. It is a historical place. In 1649 Deacon Samuel Edson, along with 56 shareholders including Miles Standish and "Goodman Alden", bought the land from Chief Massasoit. The Deacon built the first grist mill in Bridgewater on this site. On July 4, 1936 the park was dedicated to world peace and has been the sight of West Bridgewater's Park Day celebration each fall.

****CLUES:
Enter park, keeping old millstone to your left. Walk down path so that flagpole and WWII memorial stone is on your left. Path will form a "Y" ahead-stay to the right. You will see a wooden bridge on your right. Cross this and take immediate left over a second bridge. Check out the old mill water wheel below on the right. Go down stone steps and take a left onto path. Follow path past another wooden bridge that will be on your left. You will soon see a green covered bridge on your left. Go thru covered bridge. Path then splits to go left, right and straight ahead--stay straight. Go down steps into small grotto (bench on right). Continue thru stone tunnel and cross bridge in front of you. Go up stone steps and take a right onto gravel path. You will see picnic tables on the left and three pine trees to your right. The first two pines are about the same size while the third one is slightly smaller. After you pass this third pine, take a right onto small path that curves off of main trail. You will see the remains of what looks like an old stone table (it appears to be just the base). Stand by the base so that you are facing the stream and looking at the two trees growing by the edge. Look at about 2 o'clock and see corner of stone wall and outcropping that goes over stream. The letterbox is hidden in bottom corner where wall meets outcropping behind a loose stone.
THIS CAN BE A BUSY PLACE--PLEASE BE DISCRETE! THANK YOU FOR RE-HIDING IT WELL SO THAT IT IS NOT SEEN WITHOUT MOVING THE ROCK.
