Down a trail in Turkey Pen
under a cairn of stones
lies an adventurous friend of mine
the infamous Mr. Bones

From Hendersonville take HYW 191 and turn left onto 280 (at Food Lion in Mills River) toward Brevard. Follow 280, 1.7 miles from Exxon Station (on right) turn into Turkey Pen. 1.2 miles from entrance is Turkey Pen parking lot.

From Parking lot go to the big map. Take left hand trail "S Mills River Trail". Horses, Bikes, Hikers are welcome. As you go down the trail you will see a large tree on the right that has been ripped apart by a storm. Pieces of it are sticking out of the ground. A little farther down the path on the right is a little area where a fire has been built. Just past there the trail forks. Take the left trail down (the other goes to the right back up the hill). 107 steps from the fork is a large feature in the middle of the trail. 2 large twin trees grow there one smaller tree is near the large tree on the right. There is a little pile of rocks behind these trees in the feature. Under the rocks is a round metal tin with MR. BONES stamp. It is pretty scary so be warned :-)

This is a small tin so please bring your own ink, make sure there are no critters when you uncover the rocks, hide better than you find it and read the disclaimer on letterboxing.org before attempting.

Have fun!! 4 ladybugs.
